13 EU Member States showcase study opportunities ahead of European Higher Education Fair 2026

Representatives from 13 European Union Member States gathered at the Yuchengco Museum in Makati City on 28 October for the official press conference of the European Higher Education Fair (EHEF) 2026, highlighting a wide range of academic opportunities available to Filipino students seeking quality higher education in Europe. The event offered members of the media an overview of study programs, scholarships, and international mobility opportunities ahead of the fair scheduled in November.

During the press conference, Agata Nowicka, Deputy Head of Mission of the Delegation of the European Union to the Philippines, underscored the value of international education in fostering stronger global understanding and cooperation. She emphasized that studying abroad allows students not only to gain academic knowledge but also to experience different cultures and perspectives that contribute to meaningful international partnerships.

Representatives from Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Romania, Slovenia, Spain, and Sweden introduced the educational offerings available in their respective countries, ranging from postgraduate programs and research opportunities to scholarship schemes and student mobility initiatives. The presentations provided valuable insights into admission requirements, academic strengths, and student life across Europe, giving prospective applicants a clearer picture of their options.

The press conference also featured testimonials from EHEF Goodwill Ambassadors Jan Carlo Castro and Jessica Isabelle Badua, who shared firsthand experiences of studying in Europe. Castro reflected on his Erasmus Mundus journey across Portugal, Ireland, Poland, and Austria, describing the transformative impact of living and learning in different countries. Their stories highlighted how international education helps students build global networks, develop intercultural competencies, and broaden career opportunities.

The event likewise highlighted the growing education partnership between the European Union and the Philippines. The newly launched EU-Philippines Enhanced Partnership includes commitments to strengthen academic cooperation through student and staff exchanges and closer collaboration between European and Philippine universities. Between 2021 and 2025, 364 Filipinos received Erasmus Mundus scholarships, while an additional 85 Filipino students joined the Erasmus+ programme in 2026.

EHEF 2026 is set to bring together more than 70 universities, embassies, and education partners under the theme “EU: Pathways to Excellence. Building the Future.” The fair will take place on 20-21 November at the Midtown Atrium of Robinsons Manila, followed by online sessions from 23-25 November. Visitors will have the opportunity to engage directly with university representatives and learn more about postgraduate studies, scholarships, tuition fees, and life in Europe.
