The concept of the dining table in the Philippines has always been more than a place to eat. It is where family and friends gather, colleagues become companions, and food makes room for connection. At Purple Rice, that spirit meets the bold flavors and culinary traditions of Thailand. Now, the restaurant brings this philosophy to a new setting with Purple Rice Royal at Glorietta 2, Makati.
Purple Rice Royal marks the brand’s sixth branch and introduces a more elevated expression of its signature dining experience. The interiors pair warm lighting, woven rattan, and light wood with dark green tiles and foliage, accented by touches of Thai royal purple. The result is a contemporary space designed to feel polished yet welcoming, with the Filipino hapag at its heart.
At the center of the new concept are two dishes created exclusively for Purple Rice Royal. The Curry Crab & Roe Claypot brings together sweet crab meat and rich crab roe over Thai-style egg fried rice, finished with an aromatic curry sauce and served sizzling in a traditional claypot.
The Crying Tiger Angus Steak offers another bold expression of Thai flavor. Smoky grilled rib-eye is served with Nam Jim Jaew, a Thai dipping sauce known for its bright, herbaceous character. Made for sharing, both dishes bring the restaurant’s approach to Thai cooking to the table while giving diners new reasons to visit the Glorietta branch.

But one more jewel in Purple Rice’s newest branch shines. The experience extends beyond lunch and dinner with a new coffee and beverage concept. Familiar flavors such as coconut and pandan feature in the Coco Pandan Latte and Coco Pandan Black Tea Soda, while Thai basil adds a fragrant twist to the Passionfruit Basil Black Tea Soda. The menu also includes classics and modern takes like the Sea Salt Latte, Espresso Coke Float, Matcha Strawberry, and Ube Latte, among other options. Guests can enjoy the drinks alongside a meal or take one to go for an afternoon break.
STAYING TRUE TO ITS THAI-FILIPINO ROOTS
Since opening in December of 2023, Purple Rice remains true from the heart of a Filipino-Thai owner Alex Cantor carries with him two cultures, two traditions, but one love for food. From his Thai and Filipino roots come the bold flavors, the fragrant spices, and the warmth, hospitality, and joy of sharing a meal with family and friends.
Beyond just being a restaurant, Purple Rice is a home. A place where every dish tells a story of heritage, and every table becomes a space for togetherness. Purple Rice sources all of its prime ingredients directly from Thailand partnered with a heritage of Thai cooking traditions because every guest deserves food prepared with care and sincerity.
“Purple Rice Royal at Glorietta takes our roots of Thai flavors and Filipino warmth, elevating it in a space we created for guests to enjoy dishes they know us for but discover something new on the menu, and make the restaurant part of their everyday occasions, from lunch and dinner to an afternoon coffee break.” – Alyanna Sia, Director of Hospitality, Purple Rice
Purple Rice Royal brings another way to experience Thai cuisine to the heart of Makati. Whether gathering for a meal with family, catching up with friends, or taking a break between errands, guests are invited to discover Thai flavors through the soul of a Filipino home. Purple Rice is sharing the same philosophy wider this 2027, with stores at Nuvali, Laguna and Marilao, Bulacan coming soon.
