Default: Café Pub is a fresh new chill spot located in Manila that just opened last October 7, 2017. The concept, as the name implies, is a mixture of a relaxed Café vibe & a nightlife Pub atmosphere. They serve coffee, tea, alcohol – and above everything else – alcoholic milkshakes & milk tea.
Default Spikes & Tranquility
As inscribed on the top of Default’s Alcoholic Milkshake Menu, dubbed ‘Spikes’, the idea behind is that these are for people who find alcohol too intimidating, and those who want to see milkshakes become more exciting.
Bob Freking, the owner, says that people often think that alcohol & dairy products are 2 opposite things, and that he doesn’t like the idea of people classifying things as either ‘black or white’. In a more philosophical sense, Default Spikes are here to unite.
Default Café Pub has all basic flavors & spirits covered in their new menu: strawberry, mocha, salted caramel, cookies & cream, matcha, coffee, and Nutella flavors in variations of Tequila, Brandy, Rum, Gin, Vodka, Whiskey & other liqueur.
Their best seller, Powerpuff Shots (Strawberry Tequila), serve 9 shots for just 229; their Black & Russian is a coffee milkshake brewed in Vodka served mild with an extra shot of Espresso Vodka if you like it strong; and their most potent & flavorful drink, the Default Meister, is an Oreo Milkshake infused with 4 sweet different liqueurs. Pitchers are also available for groups.
If milkshakes aren’t your thing, you must try their Tranquility – Milk Tea brewed in vodka. It’s more potent than Default Spikes, but they taste uniquely different and come in 5 different flavors – Vanilla, Chocolate, Caramel, Strawberry & Hazelnut. Once you’ve decided you like it, your group of friends can choose to order a pitcher called the Tranquilizer.
Food & Drinks
Default Café Pub also served amazing Chicken Wings – but it’s not your usual. It’s a 30-year-old family chicken recipe that has been given the flavored wings twist – coming in Garlic Parmesan, Teriyaki, Honey BBQ, Salted Egg, Creamy Sriracha and Hot & Spicy flavors.
You can also order all the way from Salted Egg Fries, Chili & Cheese Fries, and Nachos to Chicharon Bulaklak, Pancit Canton & Crispy Pata. For sobering up, you must try their Sinigang na Corned Beef.
For those who crave familiar drinks, Default also serves Milkshakes, Cocktails, Beers & Spirits – at a very affordable price. Happy Hour Beers start at 40 only!
Games & Partying
Guests will find themselves at home with Default’s selection of games: playing cards, Uno, Chess, Query, Cards Against Humanity, Drunk Jengga, Spin the Shot and a whole lot more (some even kinky to play for intimate groups).
You also have to try their strongest shot called the ‘Lucifer’ and make your mark on their scoreboard. Every 10th shot from your school gets it free.
The 2nd floor is also a different story, opening when the entire second floor is full, and open for karaoke reservations. The aesthetic is entirely unique
