Students, campus journalists, school paper advisers, and aspiring broadcasters, reporters, and digital storytellers have something new to look forward to this September.
In a recent Facebook post, journalist and educator Julius Segovia announced the upcoming release of EERE TAYO! A Practical Workbook for Journalism, Broadcasting and Digital Media, an innovative learning resource designed for the new generation of journalists.
According to Segovia, the workbook was created to serve as a learning resource for young people who dream of pursuing careers in the media industry.
“I created this workbook to be a companion for young people who aspire to become broadcasters, reporters, and storytellers. I want them to feel that they are not alone in learning journalism and broadcasting,” Segovia said.
One of the workbook’s standout features is its interactive approach. Unlike traditional textbooks that rely heavily on lectures and reading materials, EERE TAYO includes exercises, activities, reflection questions, and practical newsroom tasks that students can accomplish both inside and outside the classroom.
Simply put, it is designed to make learning both educational and enjoyable.
The workbook also caters to today’s digitally connected learners through the use of QR codes embedded throughout its pages. By scanning the codes with a mobile phone, readers are instantly directed to actual news reports, anchoring demonstrations, and broadcasting examples, allowing them to observe how professional news stories are produced in real-world settings.
Adding to its practical value, EERE TAYO features messages, insights, and advice from respected media practitioners, mentors, colleagues, and broadcast journalism professionals, providing learners with perspectives drawn from years of industry experience.
Early reviewers of the project believe the workbook will be especially beneficial for students preparing for campus journalism competitions, school broadcasting activities, and digital content production.
At a time when information spreads rapidly through digital platforms and social media, EERE TAYO aims to inspire young people to become responsible, critical-thinking, and compassionate storytellers.
The workbook is scheduled for release in September 2026 and is expected to become a valuable resource for the next generation of Filipino journalists, broadcasters, and digital media practitioners.
Backed by more than two decades of experience in Philippine media, Segovia has served as a segment producer for QTV 11, news anchor for IBC TV 13, field reporter for GMA News, and is currently a columnist for Abante Tonite. He now shares his industry experience with the next generation of journalists through teaching, training, and the publication of learning resources such as EERE TAYO.
