SM City Grand Central and SM City Valenzuela hosted simultaneous Labor Day job fairs, resulting in a total of 423 individuals securing immediate employment opportunities on-site.

This collaborative initiative between SM Supermalls, the Department of Labor and Employment, the Local Government Units, and Public Employment Service Office (PESO) units of Caloocan and Valenzuela City, along with the Private Sector Advisory Council (PSAC) Jobs Committee, various industry associations, and SM Retail, showcased each of the malls’ commitment to streamlining the job-hunting process and fostering economic development.

At SM City Grand Central, 166 job seekers were hired-on-the-spot, while 257 individuals secured employment on the spot at SM City Valenzuela. The event at SM City Grand Central featured 55 companies from key sectors such as retail, food and beverage, information technology (IT), and business process outsourcing (BPO), offering a total of 5,501 job openings. Similarly, the job fair at SM City Valenzuela had 30 participating companies, providing 2,555 job listings.

In addition to the employment prospects provided by participating companies and organizations, job seekers had access to comprehensive one-stop-shop services. SM City Valenzuela’s recent overseas job fair last March 5, 2024, likewise showcased over 3,000 global opportunities in sought-after destinations such as Australia, Canada, Germany, the United Arab Emirates, Japan, Singapore, China, and other Asian countries.
