Kaibigan: a faith-based inspirational Film

Titled “Kaibigan,” the story revolves around two high school students who made some wrong decisions A tragic event transforms their rivalry into a bond as they discover the meaning of friendship, faith and the redemption that follows.

According to Perkinspiredflix executive producer Tarny Perkins, a former Silicon Valley and Asian Internet Content Executive, and whose twin sons star in the film, the story’s themes include faith, family and friendship.

“You make the right choice, good things happen. You make the wrong choice, bad things happen. But if you fix it all, there’s something called ‘redemption,” he explained. “It speaks of a beautiful journey towards personal transformation and restoration of relationships, especially that of the family.”

He added: Drugs, bullying, depression and teenage pregnancy — these care the big problems of the youth. We’re going to really tackle and attack those in the movie.

Phenomenal, multi-awarded Fil-Am twins Jesse and Christian, are young recording and dance artists signed up under Universal Records and Star Records, and who have made countless appearances on leading TV networks. Being ambassadors for DepEd, the Dangerous Drug Board, CCF, the Philippine Bibile Society and World Vision, the two are also staunch advocates against drugs, bullying, alcohol, smoking and promote purity.

With their appealing personas, it’s not surprising that the Perkins twins are blessed with the opportunity to explore their other talents and to reach out to the youth and be a platform of change by starring in their first feature film. They said: If we can inspire and change lives during 20-minute performance, what more can it do if we have longer time with them.

Playing important roles in the movie are some of the most respected actors in the industry —Cesar Montano, Tirso Cruz III, Lani Mercado, Alvin Anson, Jean Garcia, and Boots Anson-Roa, while Stephen Baldwin is the surprise Hollywood member of the cast. Other stars playing roles are Victor Basa, Danica Sotto, Bani Baidisser, Judah Paolo, Venus Rah, Emmanuelle Vera, Danielle Ontengco, Anjo Damilles and Janina Vela.

Though movies about faith often seem boring to the youth, the producers and writers made the scenes more compelling by adding a lot of action elements, heartfelt moments, basketball scenes, suspense and kind of engaging music the Perkins twins are known for — to make the advocacy palatable to all genres.

Moreover, a user-friendly app designed to assist a person in his or her journey towards enriched spiritual encounters and emotional well-being was launched. It includes daily devotions, scripture readings, directory of churches, a prayer forum, etc.

Kaibigan OST is an original song by Filipino hitmaker Vehnee Saturno. Release date is on December 4, 2019. Though set is in the Philippines, “Kaibigan” will have an international release, too.
