2019 Taiwan Excellence eSports Cup Opens

The 2019 Taiwan Excellence eSports Cup opened today at the SM City North EDSA The Block Atrium in Quezon City, where guests, gaming enthusiasts, and spectators were treated to a demonstration of how the synthesis of Pinoy prowess and Taiwan Excellence can elevate the local eSports community.

With more and more Filipinos getting into gaming, streaming and professional eSports, Taiwan promises to strengthen its commitment to support aspiring eSports athletes and budding enthusiasts by making their latest and most advanced gaming devices and products more easily accessible to Filipino consumers.

During the opening, executives stressed that the aim of Taiwan Excellence is to make lives better by bringing their technologies and products closer to the consumers and users who need them the most. And hrough events like the eSports Cup, Taiwan brands are able to give the Filipino gaming community the experience of enhanced gameplay through optimized devices from Taiwan makers as well as to give the opportunity to eSports athletes to showcase their skills in the regional arena.

Among the products on site are the Asus Republic of Gamers (ROG) Strix Scar III 6531, ROG Strix G G731GV, Asus TUF Gaming FX505DV, and ROG Zephyrus M. Gigabyte’s 2390 Aorus WaterForoe Xtreme motherboard, Aorus memory cards and peripherals, AVerMedia‘s plug-and-play AM310 USB microphone, Inwin’s WINBOT Limited Edition Transparent Spherical case, and Kingmax’s Semiconductor are on display for guests to try out. Transcend and T-Force also showcased their line of memory cards and external portable SSDs, while Zyxel will introduce its tIi-band Wi-Fi system, and an array of peripherals from XPG, Zadak, and G.Skill are also for demo at the event.

Hosted by Eruption, the opening event featured entertainment from UPeepz Dance Crew and pop-rock band GraceNote, and appearances by gaming and cosplay celebrities Myrtle Sarrosa and Ashley Gosiengfiao.

Highlighting exhilarating three-day tournaments for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) and League of Legends (LoL), the teams will vie for a slice of the competition’s P430,000 prize pool and will show how fabulous gameplay can be further boosted through the use of high-quality gaming devices from top Taiwan brands.

At the venue, there are brand booths where guests can try and experience Taiwan’s latest gaming devices first-hand, games and activities. On the third day, there will be also a cosplay competition to celebrate Filipino creativity and ingenuity.

As a next step to help boost the Philippine eSports community, the winning team of the CS:GO tournament will be representing the country in an upcoming international competition in Taiwan, which will be the culmination of a series of Taiwan Excellence eSports Cups also held in Malaysia, Thailand, and India.

The 2019 Taiwan Excellence eSports Cup is organized by the Bureau of Foreign Trade (BOFT) and the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA); with partner brands Asus Republic of Gamers, Aorus, AVerMedia, In-Win, Kingmax, Transcend, XPG, T Force, Zadak, G.Skill, and Zyxel.
