Personal Collection wins Gold Stevie for sustainability campaign, pioneering biodegradable packaging in PH

Anne Roxas, Vice President for Communications and Advertising Division of Personal Collection, and Dennis Barbatchano, Vice President for Personal Collection’s Center of Excellence, received the NEXT Award for its ‘#GreenLifeGreatLife Movement’ campaign during the awarding ceremony held on September 10, 2026 at Shangri-La The Fort, BGC. The Most Innovative Corporate Social Responsibility Campaign category of the NEXT Awards Philippines 2026 by MARKETECH APAC celebrates initiatives that creatively address social, environmental, or ethical challenges while showcasing brand values and leadership.

Personal Collection Direct Selling, Inc. (PC), one of the leading Filipino-owned direct selling companies, recently won the GOLD STEVIE® for Sustainability Initiative of the Year in Asia, Australia, and New Zealand at the 2026 International Business Awards®. The company was recognized for its “#GreenLifeGreatLife Movement,” a long-term sustainability initiative that addresses plastic pollution through biodegradable packaging and environmental conservation efforts.

The Filipino-owned company also won the STEVIE® Award for Innovation in Sustainable Packaging, along with a STEVIE® for Climate Protection and Sustainability Campaign of the Year, at the 2026 Asia-Pacific Stevie® Awards.

Of Personal Collection’s total product portfolio in rigid packaging, 88% now use biodegradable packaging as part of the “#GreenLifeGreatLife Movement.”

The company was the first Filipino manufacturer to pioneer the shift from recyclable to biodegradable packaging for consumer goods in 2021.

“Across our business, we strengthened initiatives that empower our people, improve operational sustainability, advance responsible manufacturing, reinforce good governance, and expand the reach of the #GreenLifeGreatLife Movement. Together, these efforts demonstrate that sustainability is not a separate initiative, but an integral part of how we create long-term value for our stakeholders,” said Kim Evangelista, Chairperson of Personal Collection’s Sustainability Committee. Evangelista is concurrently the Chairperson of Life Lab (Leading Innovations and Fostering Entrepreneurship), Personal Collection’s in-house innovation center.

Further recognition came through an International CSR Excellence Award from The CSR Society and the Most Innovative Corporate Social Responsibility Campaign award at the NEXT Awards Philippines 2026.

Solving the waste crisis at the root

According to a 2020 study by WWF Philippines[1], only 9% of the country’s total plastic waste gets recycled due to a lack of capacity[2]. In 2026, waste management gaps persist and contribute to overwhelming plastic pollution.

Personal Collection’s biodegradable packaging is designed for developing market realities where waste infrastructure remains limited. The company enables accelerated biodegradation of packaging under landfill conditions at scale, preventing over 2,964 metric tons of plastic waste from leaking into the environment in 2025 alone.

Many Filipinos may find it difficult to reduce their consumption of single-use plastics, especially in the consumer goods’ sachet economy[3]. While plastic recycling initiatives can be helpful, a better alternative would be to have sustainability adapt to the consumer instead of the other way around.

Nationwide sustainability action

In 2021, Personal Collection became the first Filipino company to shift from recyclable to biodegradable packaging for its home care and personal care products. The shift expanded into the “#GreenLifeGreatLife Movement” campaign, now its flagship award-winning, sustainability-led CSR program. Beyond the 100% biodegradable packaging goal, the company also has two other primary goals for the program in 2027.

With intensified climate-related disasters[4] damaging natural ecosystems like mangroves[5] and forests[6], the “#GreenLifeGreatLife Movement” aims to plant 500,000 mangrove and tree seedlings by 2027. As of 2026, 307,500 seedlings have been planted, representing 61.5% of the target.

Community cleanup drives draw on Personal Collection’s nationwide network of nearly 700 branches. Dealers, employees, and partner organizations work together to remove trash from rivers, beaches, and urban areas across the Philippines. These efforts have collected 272 tons of trash, more than double the original 2027 target of 110 tons.

Through biodegradable packaging, tree and mangrove planting, and community cleanups, the “#GreenLifeGreatLife Movement” integrates sustainability into business operations and gives Filipinos opportunities to participate. The 2026 awards recognize this approach and its measurable results.

Personal Collection bagged several recognitions this 2026 including (from left):
