Swiftpay Adds Billease as a Buy Now, Pay Later Option at Online Checkout

Swiftpay today announced that Billease is now available as a buy now, pay later (BNPL) payment method in its online checkout. Merchants already accepting payments through Swiftpay can enable Billease from their existing setup, and it appears as a payment option to shoppers at checkout.

The partnership works in both directions. Merchants gain a payment option that lifts average order value, and Billease’s more than 10 million users gain the ability to pay in installments at any online merchant on the Swiftpay network, using the same account they already have.

The addition responds to a consistent pattern in Philippine e-commerce. Shoppers are willing to buy higher-ticket items when the cost is spread over time, but many online merchants hold back from adding BNPL because it usually means another API integration, another set of credentials, another settlement file, and another reconciliation process. Offering Billease through Swiftpay removes that overhead. Payment acceptance, settlement, and reporting stay in the same place merchants already use.

For retailers, the practical effect is a wider set of payment options at checkout without engineering work or a change to daily operations. Credit decisions are returned within the checkout flow, so the customer completes the purchase in the same session rather than abandoning the cart.

Terms customers can actually follow

Billease transactions at Swiftpay merchants are offered in tenors of 6, 9, 12, 18, and 24 months, giving customers room to fit higher-ticket purchases into a monthly budget rather than dropping out of checkout. Interest is computed on the declining principal balance. As the customer pays down the balance, interest is charged only on what remains outstanding, not on the original amount for the full term. Customers who pay ahead of schedule pay less interest, and the cost of credit is disclosed upfront.

What merchants get

  • Installment payments as a standard option in the existing Swiftpay online checkout, alongside current payment methods

  • Tenors from 6 up to 24 months, supporting higher average order values

  • No separate integration, no additional merchant application, and no second system to maintain

  • Credit decisions inside the checkout flow, keeping the purchase in a single session

  • Payment upfront, with credit and collections risk carried by Billease

  • Settlement and reporting through existing Swiftpay processes

  • Access to more than 10 million Billease users, including many who are new to credit or have limited access to traditional credit options

“Merchants lose the sale when a customer wants the product but not the full price today. Enabling Billease through Swiftpay takes days rather than a planning cycle, and once it is on, every shopper on the site sees the option,” said Kurt Molina, Head of POS Product at Billease. “In categories like electronics and appliances, that shows up quickly in average order value. We charge interest on the declining balance, so a customer who pays early pays less. Terms run 6 to 24 months and the peso cost is on screen before they commit.”

“Installments have been one of the most requested payment methods from our merchants, and the ones who looked at building it themselves found out quickly that it means running a credit business,” said Damian Gil, Chief Revenue Officer at Swiftpay. “This removes that. A merchant on Swiftpay can offer Billease without underwriting anything, carrying any risk, or waiting on a development queue. Most Filipino shoppers do not hold a credit card, and above a certain ticket size they need a way to spread the cost or they leave the cart. Billease gives them tenors up to 24 months and pricing they can actually read, and it gives our merchants a larger addressable market without a change to how they operate.”

Billease is now integrated into Swiftpay’s checkout. Merchants can enable this feature through their account representative or by visiting https://swiftpay.ph/.
