Recognizing the link between scalp oil, itch, and dandruff, Head & Shoulders recently unveiled its new Complete Scalp Care range. This lineup introduces targeted, dermatologically tested solutions designed to address multiple dandruff symptoms and deliver a ‘breath of fresh hair’.
The launch event, held at Whitespace Manila, gathered the P&G Dermatology Council, creators, and media partners. It showcased three key innovations: Head & Shoulders Oil Control Shampoo, Itch Defense Shampoo, and Anti-dandruff + Itch Spray Leave-On Treatment.
Taking center stage was Head & Shoulders Oil Control Shampoo, powered by 1.7% Salicylic Acid and Piroctone Olamine. This formula helps control oil for up to 72 hours1 while stopping dandruff at its source2. It targets the two root causes of dandruff: scalp oil and Malassezia globosa, a fungus that lives on everyone’s scalp.
“Scalp oil contributes to dandruff because it is the primary food source of the Malassezia fungus,” explained Dr. Bea Chan, a board-certified dermatologist and P&G Dermatology Council member, in a panel discussion with P&G Principal Scientist Saint Tiu. “By removing excess oil, you gain another defense against dandruff while ensuring your scalp remains fresh and breathable. Salicylic acid is an effective oil-control ingredient, and when formulated at an optimal level, it delivers significant oil control benefits.”
Beyond the skincare-loving ingredients, Head & Shoulders’ advanced delivery system ensures the formulation reaches deep into the scalp where the dandruff-causing microbes reside, providing effective dandruff protection with regular use.
Adding star power to the occasion, long-time brand ambassador Bea Alonzo joined the celebration, sharing the spotlight as Head & Shoulders introduced its newest scalp care innovations.
“This new Head & Shoulders Complete Scalp Care range is a game-changer for someone like me, constantly on-the-go with heavy hair styling that usually weighs my hair and scalp down,” said Bea. “I love how it keeps my scalp flake-free and breathable. Head & Shoulders also introduced Itch Defense Shampoo, powered by a 1% AHA Menthol Complex that promotes scalp exfoliation, alongside Piroctone Olamine.
To help guests better understand their own scalp needs, attendees were invited to undergo personalized scalp assessments at the event’s Scalp Analysis booth. Supported by expert insights and recommendations from dermatologists and hair and scalp experts Dr. Julieta Arambulo and Dr. Maria Julieta Cordero of the Asian Hair Restoration Center, guests gained a closer look at how different scalp conditions can be managed with tailored anti-dandruff solutions.
