SPEEd and PlayTime Entertainment Ink Deal for The 9th EDDYS

Nominees revealed via livestream

The Society of Philippine Entertainment Editors (SPEEd) and digital entertainment company PlayTime Entertainment have officially joined forces for the upcoming 9th Entertainment Editors’ Choice. The prestigious annual film awards will be officially presented as The 9th EDDYS presented by PlayTime Entertainment under the newly signed agreement.

The partnership was finalized during a contract signing ceremony held at the PlayTime Entertainment last June 22. The collaboration unites the country’s premier circle of entertainment editors with the digital entertainment platform to celebrate and champion the finest achievements in Philippine cinema. Nominees to the event that will happen on July 5 were also revealed in a livestream on SPEEd’s Facebook page last June 25, held at the Luxent Hotel.

Leading the major categories for this year’s awards are the following contenders:

  • Best Picture: Bar Boys: After School, Eraserheads: Combo on the Run, I’m Perfect, Journeyman, Quezon, Sunshine, and UnMarry.
  • Best Actress: Mylene Dizon (Habang Nilalamon ng Hydra ang Kasaysayan), Barbie Forteza (Kontrabida Academy), Krystel Go (I’m Perfect), Angelica Panganiban (UnMarry), Maris Racal (Sunshine), and Charo Santos (Only We Know).
  • Best Actor: Carlo Aquino (Bar Boys: After School), Dingdong Dantes (Only We Know), Vice Ganda (Call Me Mother), Joshua Garcia (Meet, Greet & Bye), Jericho Rosales (Quezon), and JC Santos (Journeyman).
  • Best Director: Sigrid Andrea Bernardo (I’m Perfect), Antoinette Jadaone (Sunshine), Jeffrey Jeturian (UnMarry), Christian Paolo Lat and Dominic Lat (Journeyman), Kip Oebanda (Bar Boys: After School), Jerrold Tarog (Quezon), and Maria Diane Ventura (Eraserheads: Combo on the Run).

Key representatives from both sides attended the signing. PlayTime Entertainment was represented by its president, Roy Alcid, and company spokesperson Adela Mae Marshall. Representing SPEEd were The Manila Times entertainment editor and SPEEd president Tessa Mauricio, alongside SPEEd vice president for internal Maricris Valdez.
