A father’s love does not end with his presence. It lives on in the values he passes on, and in the life his family continues to build.
For the family of Eric Taping, that legacy is part of everyday life.
An athletic family man from Montevista, Davao de Oro, Eric shared his love for movement and the outdoors with his wife, Angelica, and their daughter, Jorge. In August 2025, he passed away after suffering heat stroke during a trail run.
After his passing, his family found ways to move forward while holding on to what he had shared with them.
Through the life insurance claim from his FWD Manifest policy, they were able to build a pickleball court in his honor. It is where they continue the routines he enjoyed, and a place that keeps his presence close in a quiet, everyday way.
The court was not something they had planned. But it became something meaningful, shaped by memory, and by the kind of life Eric showed them how to live.
“If he can see us right now, I know he will be happy. Because that was his only goal when he was alive – to see us happy and healthy,” said Angelica Taping.
This Father’s Day, FWD Philippines is sharing the Taping family’s story as part of its claims stories series, featuring real experiences of how protection supports families when it is needed.
