Mapúa Malayan Colleges Laguna (Mapúa MCL), through its Mapúa-Laguna Institute of Aviation (MIA), continues to elevate aviation education, preparing students for the dynamic and fast-growing aviation industry.
The Mapúa-Laguna Institute of Aviation launched its academic offerings with the B.S. Aeronautical Engineering (BSAE) program, which trains students in advanced aviation concepts, emphasizing precision, and innovation. Expanding its curriculum, the Institute subsequently introduced B.S. Aviation Management (BSAM), providing a comprehensive education in crucial areas such as airport management, airline operations, and revenue management.
The launch of the institution and its offerings is a response to the increasing global demand for skilled technicians, as the aviation industry continues to recover and expand in the post-pandemic era. Airlines worldwide are ramping up operations and fleet sizes, creating a strong need for well-trained professionals who can uphold safety and efficiency in air travel
With Mapúa-Laguna Institute of Aviation’s curriculum, students will not only study theories but will also be directly working with aircraft systems and components—giving them a learning environment that mirrors real-world aviation operations.
“Whether it’s working in hangars, handling real tools, or participating in internships with aviation companies, students gain first-hand experience that prepares them for the fast-paced, high-stakes world of aircraft maintenance,” shared Captain Michael John P. Reyes, Dean of the MIA Department. “They don’t just graduate with a diploma; they leave with the confidence and competence to step into the aviation industry and make an impact from day one.”
With its commitment to excellence and virtue, the Mapúa-Laguna Institute of Aviation’s programs stand out among others as Mapúa MCL offers a CAAP-Certified curriculum, making it highly competitive in the field. Students will also benefit from intensive hands-on training, made possible by the development of the Da Vinci Building—a state-of- the-art aviation training facility.
Airbus General Familiarization utilizing an Airbus 320 Cockpit Simulator and Virtual Reality and the use of augmented reality for the advance training in aircraft equipment and material construction and repair.
This facility will feature technical workshops, maintenance simulations, specialized lecture sessions, SkyArt simulators, and advanced training equipment such as Alsim 250, Heatcon, Laversab 6200, ARTS 7000, a wind tunnel, and tow trucks. The facility will also house additional training equipment such as Airbus 320 Cockpit Simulator and Virtual Reality Trainer for the A320 General Familiarization Training. In addition, an Augmented Reality Trainer will also be utilized for basic and advanced powerplant training and cabin mechanic training.
Enrolling in programs under Mapúa MCL’s Mapúa-Laguna Institute of Aviation will not only guarantee students develop real-world technical skills and a problem-solving mindset but also instills a deep send of responsibility—ensuring that every flight they help maintain contributes to the safety of passengers around the world.
“The aviation industry needs passionate, skilled individuals like you—not just to maintain aircraft, but to uphold the trust that millions of travelers place in aviation every day,” Capt. Reyes emphasized. “Your journey starts here, take flight with purpose.”
