Inspirational Balladeer RJ dela Fuente and OG Christian music icon Mr. Pure Energy Gary Valenciano is set to drop a stripped-down, soul-stirring music video for their version of Laura Story’s hit “Blessings”. Set to premiere on June 25, the MV keeps it pure emotion and raw, and in just light-vs-darkness visuals with no flashy effects that hit deep.
Directed by Jason Maximo, this project is a significant creative milestone, uniting two generations of Christian artists in a collaboration built on faith, mentorship, and shared purpose. It highlights not just musical harmony but also the quiet strength of spiritual conviction.
“We didn’t want to be too literal,” said Gary Valenciano. For him, minimal lighting, a plain set, and simple clothes—it all helps keep the focus on the message.
The MV is described as a symbolic representation of moving from darkness into light, illustrating the experience of finding Jesus in the midst of uncertainty. It opens in a dark, empty space, with light gradually emerging in sync with the music. RJ is seen in cool, subdued tones that convey a calm yet detached presence, while Gary is bathed in warm golden hues, expressing vibrance and intensity. These contrasting visuals portray different phases of life, both guided by divine presence. As the video unfolds, the darkness recedes completely. The two artists are seen standing in radiant white—symbolizing not just light, but the overwhelming presence of Jesus. The light doesn’t just brighten, it overtakes everything. Darkness doesn’t just fade—it surrenders.
Visually, the team embraced a minimalist approach, using chiaroscuro-inspired lighting to match the song’s themes of trials and breakthroughs. The production was a collaborative effort, shaped by the shared church community of the performers and directors.
“The lyrics are incredibly powerful, and we didn’t want the visuals to compete with that,” RJ shared. “What makes this even more special is getting to create it with Tito Gary, who’s been a guiding light for me since I was young.”

Behind the simplicity lies a rich emotional current. Valenciano notes that the darker scenes represent personal trials, while the shift into brightness reflects the hope and healing that come through faith. “It’s one of those songs I wish I had written,” he says. “Because blessings don’t always come with a smile—they sometimes arrive wrapped in pain and struggle.”
For each of the singers, “Blessings” serves as a personal anthem: a consoling song during Valenciano’s health struggles and a beacon of hope for Dela Fuente as he navigated his path through mourning and healing.
For RJ dela Fuente, “Blessings” marks a personal and professional turning point. After earlier stints on American Idol and The Voice Philippines, he now steps into his own as a faith-driven artist, mentored by one of the most respected names in Christian music.
And guess what? This duo isn’t done, as redemption arc realness is incoming. Yes, the duo is also preparing to reunite for the return of Joseph The Dreamer, a beloved stage musical featuring themes of betrayal, hardship, and redemption.
Valenciano sees a strong connection between Joseph’s story and the message of their song. “At first glance, Joseph’s life didn’t look like a blessing. But often, that’s how God works—His greatest blessings come disguised in seasons of difficulty, only to be revealed in time.”
You may catch the limited run of Joseph The Dreamer this July 11–13 and 18–20 at Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium, RCBC Plaza, Makati.
