Coastal Grounds, brewing in Siargao

Going to Siargao? Make sure to check out Coastal Grounds at the Pops District in General Luna. If you are in the mood for interesting caffeine treats, ask the barista to prepare their signature drinks like the Orange Shakerato, Italian style iced coffee shake with espresso and syrup; Honey Rose Latte, your favorite espresso mixture with a delicate floral spike or the Black Sesame Latte, sweet blend of milk and espresso topped with rich taste of black sesame. The café also serves favorite espresso concoctions like Long Black, Cortado, Affogato, and Dark Chocolate Mocha.

Coastal Grounds Coffee is the very first café venture of the MASA (Manpower for Advertising Services Agency Inc.) Group. Headed by their Executive Vice President for Business Development and Operations Dr. Stephene Roy Condino, also known as Doc Bigs to his colleagues and students.

Doc Bigs is inspired by the community spirit in Siargao.

Known for his expertise in business and entrepreneurship, Coastal Grounds Coffee captures the fascination of Doc Bigs for coffee and the infectious Siargao island vibe.

In between running the family business and his teaching duties, Doc Bigs will always find time to pause and enjoy a cup of coffee. The MASA head office in Manila has its coffee shop, which serves a popular coffee brand at employee-friendly prices.

When the opportunity to open his coffee place materialized, Doc Bigs couldn’t think of a better location. “ Siargao is the best, it is so warm and friendly. The people are constantly helping one another. It is not commercialized, it is not congested, it’s all about supporting the local business. They made us feel so welcome, the community spirit is very inspiring.”

Guests like savoring every sip while watching the surfers ride the waves, an experience that can only  be enjoyed at Coastal Grounds. “We use Yardstick coffee for our drinks, and  local beans from Bukidnon, Davao, and Benguet to prepare our Pour Over Coffee.” Also known as filter or drip coffee, it involves pouring hot water through coffee grounds in a filter to bring out a fuller flavor.

With its unique menu, (they also plan to offer breakfast treats) Coastal Grounds is fast becoming the favorite island hub thanks to its relaxing, friendly, and laid-back ambiance.
