Landco Achieves Six Prestigious Accolades for its Sustainable and Distinctive Development of BeachTowns

Landco Pacific Corporation gained international acclaim with six highly-coveted awards in 2023. Anchored on its strengthened positioning as a Metro Pacific Investments Corporation subsidiary helmed by Chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan, Landco was distinguished for raising the bar higher in premium resort living.

“We are thrilled and honored with the international accolades for Landco in the past year. These awards reaffirm our thrust to build premium and sustainable developments that have worth in the world and people’s lives. This motivates us to continue our trailblazing efforts in developing premium and leisure communities that create positive environmental and social impacts,” stated Landco Pacific Corporation President and CEO Erickson Y. Manzano.

The awards are a testament to Landco’s unwavering commitment to corporate excellence in premium and leisure real estate development. Situated in key leisure and tourist destinations in the country, Landco’s latest development of BeachTowns offers master-planned and mixed-use communities; unique and sought-after resort amenities; and sustainable features. These developments ensure the realization of the evolving dreams of modern Filipino families and at the same time promote tourism and champion sustainability.

Landco continues to push the envelope in resort and leisure living, create value for its investors, and help build a more sustainable future through the development of its BeachTowns and new projects.

Landco was recently named “Asia’s Best Performing Company” at the prestigious Asia Corporate Excellence & Sustainability (ACES) Awards 2023 in a gala dinner held at the Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur. Landco also attained the:  Best Leisure Real Estate (Resort Estate) Developer of The Year in the 2023 Global Economic Awards staged in Dubai, and 2023 Real Estate Asia Award at Marina Bay Sands Expo & Convention Centre in Singapore; Best Luxury Leisure Projects Developer in the 2023 Global Business Outlook Awards at the Conrad Hotel in Dubai; and Most Sustainable Developer and Best Real Estate Developer in the 2023 International Investment Awards in London.

These merits came after the Silver Award of Landco BeachTowns CaSoBe (Calatagan South Beach) for Outstanding Development in Luzon – Masterplan in the 2023 Property and Real Estate Excellence Awards by the Philippine chapter of the International Real Estate Federation (FIABCI), dubbed as the “Oscars of Real Estate,” which recognizes properties that best embody excellence in all real estate disciplines.

“The awards given to Landco also recognize our emphasis on sustainability.  We don’t only pay lip service to it. Sustainability is very personal to me and I do my best to embed it into our corporate DNA.  not because we have to, but because it’s the right thing to do. Through the development of Landco BeachTowns, our focus is to leave a lasting and sustainable legacy for the next generation,” Manzano said.

“Currently, in our country, the market is not yet at the level that it is willing to pay a premium for sustainability.  So, we subsidize these additional investments from our margins, i.e., we take less profit simply because we know it’s the right thing to do.  And I hope it inspires other developers to follow suit.” Manzano further stated

Demonstrating leadership in corporate excellence, innovation, and sustainability through its premium real estate development, Landco was recognized as an exemplar for Asian companies to emulate at the ACES Award.  Landco is credited for its exceptional business strategies, governance, and regional operations.

The Global Economics Awards annually identifies business enterprises that put their hard work into forging the best work culture for their regional and global economies. The awardees of their program are considered the best market players in the realm of their business and the epitome of perseverance and credibility. The 2023 Global Economics Awards also recognized Manzano for his Outstanding Contribution Towards Sustainability in Real Estate Development.

Rewarding excellence in businesses around the world, the Global Business Outlook Awards is designed to put into spotlight, the outstanding work of businesses and business leaders across industries. The International Investor Awards is set up to help nominate financial institutions and listed companies. Most of their members are based in geographical areas of investor interest. Their team uses a wide range of criteria and multiple research platforms for an informed decision of winners. On a regional scope, the Real Estate Asia Awards recognizes the most innovative real estate developments in Asia Pacific that stood out in the market.

Manzano cited that Landco stands out for the well-planned sustainability features of its latest property developments of BeachTowns and corporate social responsibility initiatives are aligned with MPIC’s commitment to helping achieve the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals to make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable; and strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development.

Creating long-term sustainable value for its developments of BeachTowns in Batangas, the 15-hectare CaSoBe and 23-hectare Club Laiya are both LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) registered with double-piping system for water recycling measures – the first in the Resort Estates, and The Spinnaker, the beachfront condominium set to rise as an architectural landmark that resembles the headsail of a yacht at Club Laiya. Permeable and scenic tree-lined walkways and bike lanes in these Resort Estates help reduce carbon footprint.

Millennial Resorts, the hospitality arm of Landco at the BeachTowns, achieved the very first EDGE (Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies) Certification for resort hospitality in the country, with its sustainable accommodation of Crusoe Cabins at CaSoBe. The EDGE Certification was awarded by the Philippine Green Building Initiative, Inc. (PGBI) which recognized Crusoe Cabins for its eco-efficient design that resulted in a reduction of 34% in energy, 57% in water, and 65% in embodied energy in materials compared to the local base case.

Complementing environmental sustainability, Landco also implements long-term Corporate Social Responsibility program with the Adopt-a-Scholar program in partnership with Batangas State University and local public high schools. This program aims to help provide financial aid for a four-year Hospitality course of selected underprivileged youth within the vicinity of Landco BeachTowns in Calatagan and Laiya, San Juan, Batangas.

Landco’s other CSR initiatives are comprised of staff participated in environmental conservation efforts: planting of saplings in mangroves and release of turtle hatchlings to the sea in partnership with local environmental organizations and landowners. Landco also supported local fisherfolks by providing access roads, and job creation with about 70% of Millennial Resorts staff from the local community.
