P&G wins back-to-back Young Marketing Leader of the Year at the Asia Pacific Tambuli Awards

Procter & Gamble Philippines, the trusted consumer goods company with superior products that promote health and hygiene, took home the Young Marketing Leader of the Year honors at the Asia Pacific Tambuli Awards twice in a row.

The said Award is given to young professionals whose outstanding achievements helped build market leaders, shaped the future of brand management, and contributed to the betterment of the community.

In 2022, P&G Asia Pacific, Middle East, and Africa Regional Brand Director Mariel Chavez was recognized as the Young Marketing Leader of the Year for her versatile leadership and ability to transform various business challenges and consumer opportunities, contributing to Tide and Downy Philippines’ sustainable growth during the pandemic.

As the leader of Downy Philippines, Mariel drove shares and sales for the brand with the “Downy Bye Bye Bahayrus” Campaign. Chavez also steered Tide’s campaign evolution into “Tide Perfect Clean.”

Chavez also contributed to shaping the next generation of market leaders as she used to teach marketing classes at one of the top Philippine universities.

This year, P&G secures a back-to-back win in the “Young Marketing Leader of the Year” category with its Laundry Brand Director Ralph Morales receiving the award.

Morales played a pivotal role in Ariel’s business turnaround during the pandemic to regain market leadership. Prior to this, he also drove record-high success for Gillette with innovative campaigns like “Gillette Rewards” and “Groom-from-home.”

Like Chavez, Morales also teaches marketing classes at one of the top Philippine universities. His passion for building future brand leaders earned him a P&G Coach of the Year award in 2022.

“P&G took a chance on me, and I was able to not only join a multinational company, but also obtain the best training from the best mentors, and, most importantly, succeed in my work as a Brand Director. I pay it forward by building the next set of global brand leaders by sharing my expertise and experience with the younger brand builders in P&G,” Morales said.

As the country’s top employer, Chavez and Mariel are products of P&G’s commitment to investing in its talent and best-in-class leadership development. With its ‘grow from within’ culture, meaningful careers leading billion-dollar global brands, providing international exposure and assignments, and hands-on mentorship from the best P&G business leaders, P&G stands apart and establishes itself as one of the country’s best workplaces where one can hone their talents and skills to become the purposeful industry marketing leaders.

Overall, P&G won four (4) awards at the Asia Pacific Tambuli Awards. Kristine Tang, P&G Philippines Vice President for Marketing, was named “Chief Marketing Officer of the Year” for her notable leadership in transforming P&G’s multi-million dollar brands like Tide, Downy, and Joy into a powerful Force for Growth and a Force for Good in the Philippines and Asia. Alongside this, P&G also won an award for its waste reduction sustainability program Project LESS.
