Now you can Enjoy Mekeni #BayaniStreetfood at Home!

The Philippines is a country filled with delicious eats and Pinoy street food is especially appetizing! In Manila, you’ll find street food snacks all over the neighborhood streets, you can’t walk more than a few meters in many areas without seeing something being served like isaw, fishballs and kwek-kwek.

Possibly also one of the most bought and popular Filipino street food, especially among kids, are the fried kikiam, squid balls and nowadays chicken balls as well. These oh-so-good snacks are deep fried, and you grab a skewer and poke them right out of the oil, dip them into chili-onion-soy sauce, and eat.

Due to the pandemic, however, it has been quite a while since we were able to enjoy our favorite street food paired with manong’s home-made sauce and probably our favorite samalamig. We all miss munching on these street snacks, as well as comfort merienda food such as siomai, siopao and lumpia.

Good thing, Mekeni is bringing us Bayani – a product line offering squid balls, chicken balls, kikiam, siomai, siopao, and even the party favorite, lumpiang shanghai. No need to crave for your favorite street snacks any longer. Now, we can enjoy a #BayaniStreetfood feast with our family and friends at the comfort of our home!

The Bayani line is subdivided into categories:

These products are easy to prepare and will only require minimum cooking time. The streets balls and lumpia can be deep-fried or air fried while the siopao, minipao and siomai are ready-to-steam.

Nothing beats a piping hot street food skewered directly from manong’s deep-frying pan to a BBQ stick. And it is best eaten with the manong’s dipping sauce!

You can easily make your own manong’s street food sauce with this easy-peasy Bayani recipe using readily available ingredients at home: 2 cups water, 2 tbsp soy sauce, 2 tbsp flour,1/2 cup brown sugar, 3 cloves garlic, 1 small onion, and 1 red pepper (optional).
