While deep into the process of redevelopment and expansion, SM Cinema opened its 65th branch, an archetype of its new-age theaters, in the heart of Olongapo City on September 13.
SM Cinema takes fresh theater design and up-to-date technology to its SM Olongapo Central branch. The newest branch added to its expansive portfolio boasts of state-of-the-art spectator seats, advanced laser projection technology and the latest Dolby surround system.
“We know that as technology advances moviegoers become more critical in terms of expectations from us. That is why we are are simultaneously redeveloping our existing cinemas and opening new branches.” Ruby Ann O. Reyes, SM Cinema’s Vice President for Corporate Marketing said.
According to Reyes, SM Cinema is rolling out new formats and employing new technology to ensure that it is giving its patrons an elevated movie experience. SM Cinema Olongapo Central is among the first branches to adopt refreshed facilities and updated technology.
“SM Cinema Olongapo Central is our 65th branch and it is an archetype of both our redeveloped and soon-to-open regular cinemas.” Reyes said.

SM Olongapo Central has 6 regular cinemas and a total of 736 seats. All six theaters are fixed with comfortable Opus chairs from world-class spectator seats manufacturer Ferco Seating. For crystal clear pictures and vivid colors, SM Cinema employs Christie laser projectors. And for a holistic viewing experience, the theaters are equipped with Dolby surround sound system that promise to deliver rich movie audio.
