Now let’s talk about WCOPA’s newest rising star Sophia Bianca.
Born and raised in Parañaque and currently taking up a Mass Communications course in De LaSalle University, Sophia Bianca C. De Vera has been singing even before she could speak. She told: My dream is Since I was 13, my Mom and I would do the karaoke rounds. Aside from that, I joined several reality shows on television. And that was where my voice got polished.
Until she was able to get her first break internationally.
July last year, Sophia Bianca competed in the Vocal Competition of the Senior Division of the prestigious World Championship of Performing Arts (WCOPA) in Long Beach, California, USA, joining in the five category – R&B, country, rock, gospel and pop. She bagged the silver medals in country and pop. She wowed the audience with her electrifying rendition of Jessie J’s Momma Knows Best during the grand championship final round. She received two silver medals and a gold for reaching the Grand Championship Level as Senior Voice Vocals.
When asked, where do you see yourself in five years, Sophia Bianca said: I see myself performing because music is my passion.
To become a recording artist, to get to the international scene, and if given a chance, to do an act with her singing idol Alicia Keys. Sophia’s dream may be very grand but her lawyer parents are very supportive of her.
Now the gir -err lady just released her debut single, a day before turning 18 last Friday at Pookaberry Cafe in Quezon City. Her single “In Love’s Eyes” was composed by Grammy awardee Gerard McMann.
Sophia Bianca will be back in WCOPA for its opening ceremonies for this year. She has also a show in New York’s Ugly Kitchen with a band on July 24 and is scheduled to shoot her official music video in the city.
