Lyceum of the Philippines-Laguna is the 12th Goldilocks ICDC Overall Champion

Student bakers from Lyceum of the Philippines-Laguna emerged as the 12th Goldilocks Intercollegiate Cake Decorating Challenge (ICDC) recently held at the Fashion Hall of SM Megamall.

Six best culinary schools from all over the country battled it out in a live cake decorating competition that requires creativity, imagination, and a steady, delicate touch.

This is the 12th ICDC since 2006, and this year Goldilocks has gone back to the very heart and essence of the competition: the cake itself, and what it represents.

Goldilocks Marketing Manager Eloisa Lacap said: Cake is timeless as it is meant to to celebrate sweet moments and special memories. With this inspiring theme that will surely be interpreted in many amazing ways, we are looking forward to seeing cake designs that will evoke memories of the past, give meaning to the present, and some that will gaze into the future.

On the competition day, country’s future pastry masters from Lyceum of the Philippines Laguna, University of Batangas, Saint Anne College of Lucena, Pangasinan State University, Western Institute of Technology Iloilo, and the Holy Cross of Davao College all vied to be named the overall champion of ICDC 2018.

The on-the-spot cake creations contest featured contestants sharing one stage and one central supply bin, each team trying to decorate their cakes under the theme “Timeless” to be finished in 5 hours. The format showed audiences the actual cake-deco process, encourages teamwork and creativity under pressure, and provided audiences with an urgency and excitement not seen in other cake deco contests.

Lyceum of the Philippines-Laguna bagged two of the three categories at this year’s ICDC (Tribute to the Present and Tribute to the Future) to win the overall crown, taking home a Baking Showcase for their school worth P250,000, Goldilocks gift certificates for each member, and strong sense of school pride as the best amateur cake decorators in the country.

Western Institute of Technology-Iloilo won the first category, Tribute to the Past.

As with previous ICDC events, audiences at the event venue were treated to activities including a Cake Decorating Workshop, a DYC (Decorate Your Cake) area for children, Goldilocks Premium Decorated Cakes on Display, an Avoset Co-Presenter Booth, and other fun games and prizes.
