Sun Life’s 9th Resolution Run Raises Funds, Awareness

Last Sunday, Sun Life Resolution Run happened at the GHQ Grandstand Camp Aguinaldo, gathering thousands of running enthusiasts all over the country.

As the running half of the SUNPIOLOGY DUO event, the Sun Life Resolution Run aims to help Filipinos take a step towards a healthier 2018, especially to raise awareness about diabetes. Running for nine years now, the event was once again mounted with Run Rio.

Running enthusiasts of all ages had their pick from five tracks: 500m for Kids, 500M Walk for Adults, 3K, 5K, and 10K. It was an obstacle course with pit stops, such as a “Watch your Sugar”, “Watch your Waist” and “Watch your Steps” , inspired by diabetes prevention thru a Fit and Well lifestyle.

For celebrity fans, it was the chance to run again with their favorite Star Magic celebrities led by no other than Sun Life brand ambassador Piolo Pascual.

Over 3,000 participants were treated to an array of healthy food and drinks at the event partners’ booths, a 360-cam booth, and raffle draws with prizes such as an Apple Watch and a brand new TV. And in preparation for the challenge, runners were encouraged to warm up before the run through tai chi and “Dance Diabetes Away” Zumba sessions.

Hosted by Robi Domingo and Sun Life’s Len Arboleda, the Sun Life Resolution Run was a star-studded event, with celebrities Matteo Guidicelli, Enchong Dee, Nikki Valdez, Ria Atayde, Tommy Esguerra, Marco Gallo, Maris Racal, Bailey May, Sam Shoaf, Xia Vigor, and Hashtags members Jameson Blake and Zeus Collins joining the run.

The run awarding ceremony and a mini-concert served as the event finale, featuring performances by Maymay Entrata, Edward Barber, Kisses Delavin, and Inigo Pascual, who also led a birthday surprise for his dad Piolo.

Also a fundraising event, Sun Life Resolution Run extended its reach to include diabetes awareness through another beneficiary, the Institute for Studies on Diabetes Foundation, Inc, the Star Magic Scholars and the programs of the Noordhoff Craniofacial Foundation, a non-profit organization for the accessible treatment of cleft lips and cleft palates. It has raised over P5 Million for charity this year.
