Christmas in Northern Metro Manila gets a colorful Italian twist as SM City Grand Central unveils “Venetian Wonderland,” its 2026 holiday centerpiece inspired by the canals of Venice and the vibrant island streets of Burano.
Transforming the mall atrium into a festive Venetian scene, the installation features a glowing canal, a traditional gondola, colorful façades, illuminated bridges and holiday characters, creating an immersive setting where shoppers can pause, take photos and enjoy the Christmas atmosphere.
The centerpiece is part of SM Supermalls’ nationwide “SM Magical Sparkle” Christmas campaign, which brings distinct holiday themes and attractions to SM malls across the country.
At SM City Grand Central, the spotlight is on Burano, an island in the Venetian Lagoon known for its brightly painted houses. At the heart of the display stands a 34-foot, multi-tiered Christmas tree topped with illuminated starbursts, framed by pastel-colored façades that recreate the cheerful character of Burano.
A gently illuminated canal runs through the installation, complete with a Venetian gondola and a festive gondolier elf. Brick arch bridges, warm street lamps, Christmas greenery and European-inspired details complete the scene, giving the atrium the feel of a Christmas evening in Venice.
The Venetian setting extends beyond the centerpiece, with holiday pop-ups and market-inspired stalls positioned around the atrium. Designed with the charm of European Christmas markets, these spaces offer gifts, keepsakes and seasonal treats, adding another layer to the holiday experience as shoppers move through the mall.
The centerpiece also provides photo spots throughout the atrium, with the gondola, canal, colorful houses and holiday characters creating distinctive backdrops for families and friends.
More than a decorative attraction, Venetian Wonderland reflects the role of SM’s Christmas centerpieces as seasonal destinations where communities gather, celebrate and create holiday memories. At SM City Grand Central, the Venetian theme brings together the sights and atmosphere of Christmas with the mall’s mix of shopping, dining and festive activities.
As part of SM’s 2026 Christmas campaign, the celebration is designed around maxed out experiences, bringing more ways for families and friends to enjoy the season at their most loved SM City Grand Central.
