Some household appliances are simply used and replaced, and others stay longer to become part of a family’s story.
As Hanabishi celebrates its 40th anniversary this year, the ka-partner of many Filipino families sought to recognize those whose longstanding Hanabishi products have remained with them throughout the years.
“With the help of Eat Bulaga, we came up with the Subok sa Tibay at Kalidad Awards to highlight the stories of trust and endurance of Filipinos with Hanabishi,” said Candice Ong-Ang, VP for Operations of Hanabishi Appliances, who led the awarding of the winners.
Through Eat Bulaga, Hanabishi invited viewers to share their stories about their old Hanabishi appliances. From the many entries that came from different parts of the country, top 5 winners were chosen and one special prize was awarded to the contest who owned the oldest Hanabishi appliance.
The winners were recently honored at the Subok sa Tibay at Kalidad Awards ceremony in the long-running noontime show, which has also been a longtime ka-partner of Hanabishi. Bossing Vic Sotto, Eat Bulaga’s host and Hanabishi’s brand ambassador, shared that the brand has been a part of the show for 16 years and was one of the first to support their popular Sugod Bahay segment.
Appliances That Stay With You Throughout the Years
Winning the Subok sa Tibay at Kalidad Award was Caroline Marcelo of Taytay, Rizal, whose Hanabishi Flat Iron is just a year short of Hanabishi at 39 years.
“This Hanabishi Iron is way older than me,” her daughter wrote in her letter-entry to Eat Bulaga. “This was gifted to my parents for their wedding (on) March 7, 1987. And up to this day, we are still using that iron. It’s so durable and reliable.”
The Marcelos took home PhP20,000 in cash; Hanabishi’s recently release product, the Digital Pressure Cooker HDIGPC-18IN1; Hanabishi Flat Iron HI83; Rice Cooker HHRC14FS; Mini Jumbo Fan HMJF7; Oven Toaster HO70; and Juice Blender HJB115.
The top 5 winners, meanwhile, were Odessa Sengseng, whose Hanabishi Flat Iron has been with their family for 35 years and was the first-ever electric iron that they owned; Dwight Jason Malabag, who owns a 36-year-old Hanabishi Super Blender that he inherited from his grandfather; Hermie Gavino, whose 30-year-old Hanabishi Oven Toaster was a prize that her husband won during a Christmas party raffle.
The other winners were Epifania Ablaza, who has kept the Hanabishi Electric Fan that her first grandchild used for 20 years, and Raquel Tolentino, who has kept her Hanabishi Rice Cooker (a wedding gift) for 33 years.
Each of them received PhP10,000 in cash, a Hanabishi Flat Iron HI38, Rice Cooker HHRC14FS, Mini Jumbo Fan HMJF7, Oven Toaster HO70, and Juice Blender HJB115.
The winning Hanabishi appliances will be displayed during Hanabishi’s 40th anniversary celebration on September 30 at the Grand Hyatt Hotel.
“As we mark our milestone 40th year, we are inspired by our consumers’ stories. We thank everyone who sent their entries and shared with us their journey with Hanabishi throughout the years. We look forward to being part of your household for 40 more years to come,” Ong-Ang said.
