PENSHOPPE, one of the the leading Filipino fashion brands, proudly announced the launch of PENSHOPPE PLAY, its newest activewear line designed to celebrate everyday movement, ease, and enjoyment. PLAY marks PENSHOPPE’s bold entry into the activewear space, offering versatile pieces that fit seamlessly into the rhythm of modern life.
PLAY is not about performance metrics or intimidating gear—it’s about making movement feel natural, social, and fun. Whether it’s a casual workout, a walk in the park, a grocery run, or simply staying on the go, PLAY embraces activity as part of daily living.
“Fitness shouldn’t be about a finish line—it should be about your own journey and moving at your own pace,” said Brandon Liu, Vice President of PENSHOPPE. “With PLAY, we wanted to remove the pressure and create activewear that feels accessible, stylish, and effortless. It’s about celebrating movement as play.” Liu emphasized that the line was developed after extensive prototyping and fabric research to ensure comfort and accessibility. “We wanted to make sure that we found the right fabric, so we did a lot of research before releasing something to the market. PLAY is stylish, affordable, and very much aligned with our brand values,” he added.
Athletes Who Embody PLAY
To embody this philosophy, PENSHOPPE has tapped national athletes Kira Ellis and Elijah Cole as the first faces of PLAY. Both competed for the Philippines in the Southeast Asian Games, and both represent the authenticity, discipline, and individuality that inspire the collection.
Ellis, a triathlete, shared her excitement about the line’s versatility: “PLAY is about showing up as you are, and for me, it represents the freedom to live an active life without losing your sense of style. The material is so soft and breathable—it’s perfect for the Philippine weather. Honestly, I was shocked at how comfortable it is. You could even wear it to the airport or on a long-haul flight.”
She also highlighted how PLAY makes movement approachable for everyone: “With other brands, activewear can feel intimidating, like it’s only for elite athletes. PLAY is really for anyone. It looks good on everyone, and it encourages people to move—even if it’s just walking your dog or going grocery shopping.”
Cole, a national pole vaulter, echoed this sentiment, pointing to PLAY’s casual and approachable design. “I feel pretty lucky to be picked to do this. It’s a really cool thing to be part of. PLAY isn’t in-your-face activewear—it’s more casual, more fashionable, and more chill. That’s exactly how I like to compete: comfortable and relaxed. Pole vault is all about being chill and having fun on the runway, and PLAY represents that.”
He added that PLAY is perfect for people who are just starting their fitness journey: “If you’re curious about a new hobby or sport, you don’t want to wear what the pros are wearing right away. PLAY is a good intro—it’s not intimidating, but it still feels right. Everything I’ve tried on feels natural, like it’s supposed to be on me. The colors are light and easy on the eyes, and they make me feel happier.”
Both athletes emphasized that PLAY is designed for everyone, not just professionals. Ellis noted, “It’s motivational in a way. Even if you just want to look good, PLAY encourages you to move. If you can’t perform, japorm. That’s what I always say.” Cole added, “It’s comfortable, it’s stylish, and it’s something you can wear every day—whether you’re training, hanging out with friends, or just being outside.”
A Fresh Direction for PENSHOPPE
Behind the scenes, PENSHOPPE invested significant time in prototyping to ensure PLAY stayed true to the brand’s values of accessibility and affordability. The first collection takes cues from what athletes wear before, after, or in between training—pieces that feel lived-in, relaxed, and effortless. “We believe activewear should be fun, social, and not intimidating,” Liu explained. “It’s something you do with your friends, something that fits into your lifestyle. PLAY is for everyone, regardless of where you are in your fitness journey.”
With PLAY, PENSHOPPE signals a deeper move into lifestyle fashion, adapting to the changing needs of its community. “Customer behaviors are changing, and we are at the mercy of what they need,” Liu said. “PLAY is consistent—it’s not seasonal. You can expect new takes and fresh offerings all year round.”
