Can a middle-aged guy and an actor who has never served in the military or police beat a crazed and unpredictable murderer?
Crosspoint is an action thriller film top-billed by Filipino actor Carlo Aquino and Emmy-nominated Japanese actor Takehiro Hira as the two men who started a manhunt for a wanted serial killer whose bounty will be the solution to their respective financial struggles.
The movie explores the story of two individuals struggling to make ends meet, find themselves at a crucial crossroad in their lives, where they must take desperate measures to survive. In this film, Manuel Hidalgo (Aquino), a struggling Filipino entertainer who moves to Japan survive by performing illegally in Filipino pubs in Japan, and a bankrupt Japanese business professional Shigeru Yamaguchi (Hira) join forces to capture the wanted serial killer whose bounty is estimated to be 10 million yen.
Other stars of the movie are: Sho Ikushima, Kei Kurosawa, Sarah Jane Abad, Ian de Leon, Dindo Arroyo, Zeppi Borromeo, Polo Ravales among others.
This Phil-Jap movie was written and directed by Japan-based Filipino director Donie Ordiales, with the screenplay written by Adam Luff and Tommy Shoes Morrison, and produced by High Road Creatives and 034 Productions.
During a presscon, Ordiales said that the film was originally going to be a low-budget independent film but this was changed when ABS-CBN exclusive actor, Carlo Aquino, joined the project and made it into his first feature-length film.
He added: the characters in the movie were based on and inspired by the people I met in Japan.
Aquino, who is so happy for his first international film, is also proud to star with an Emmy-nominated actor Hira, who is known for his role in “Shogun”.
Crosspoint will be theatrically released in the Philippines on October 16 and in Japan in 2025.
