Converge joins Brigada Eskwela in Benguet to usher safe, comfortable opening of classes

Leading fiber broadband and technology provider Converge ICT Solutions Inc. has participated in this year’s Brigada Eskwela by assisting Kapangan Central National High School (KCNHS) in Benguet in preparing its facilities for the start of the new academic year.

With the support of its partners in Baguio and the local government of Kapangan, Converge has donated cleaning materials and school and office supplies for the use of teachers and students.

Likewise, demonstrating its commitment to bridging the digital divide, the company also pledged to extend fiber internet scholarships to three deserving students of the said school.

The chosen scholars will be given free fiber internet connection for a minimum of two years, which can be extended until their tertiary education if they remain in good academic standing. The students will be selected based on their last year’s academic performance and financial circumstances.

“In today’s education, using technology isn’t a choice anymore – it’s a must. At Converge, we want to contribute in improving the quality of education by providing access to online resources and promoting the development of essential digital skills and literacy among learners,” said Converge VP and Head of Corporate Communications and Public Relations Jay-Anne Encarnado.

As part of its sustainability commitments, Converge is dedicated to creating positive community impact through its solutions and technologies. It empowers underserved communities by enabling access to world-class and reliable fiber internet services to bridge the digital divide.

Similarly, Converge is actively working towards fulfilling Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4, which focuses on providing quality education, and SDG 1, aimed at eliminating poverty.

“Sa naipamahagi n’yong serbisyo, sana ‘yung mga mag-aaral natin, maging tutok sila sa pag-aaral. Sabi nga nila, ang edukasyon ay mula sa salitang educere, meaning ‘to draw out.’ ‘Yun ang layunin naming mga guro – to draw out the talents of the students. At the same time, educare o ‘to train.’ ‘Yung mga bata, sa pamamagitan ng teknolohiya, marami silang malalaman and they will be trained,” said KCNHS School Principal Alfonso Doriano.

“Malaking tulong sa mga estudyante ang internet lalong lalo na ‘yung mga nakikita namin na may leadership potential. Mas makakapag-lead pa sila sa mga kaklase nila at ganun din sa kanilang performance as students. Pundasyon ito para sa kanilang higher schooling,” said Juliet M. Luma-ang, Teacher at KCNHS.

Recently, Converge unveiled its BIDA Fiber Internet Scholarship Program that powers free fiber internet for underprivileged senior high school students. The application was open to incoming Grade 11 students enrolled in public schools who have chosen Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) strand.
