Emma Stone, Bradley Cooper, Christopher Nolan, and More Are Up for At Least Two Oscars

The more nominations, the more chances of winning? Will they go home with more than one Oscar statuette on the 96th Academy Awards night?

Honoring achievements in the movie industry for the past year, the 96th Academy Awards will be livestreamed exclusively on Disney+ Philippines, on Monday, March 11. As if securing an Oscar nomination isn’t challenging enough, these multi-talented individuals garnered more than one for the upcoming ceremony. Let’s recognize their commendable efforts in pushing the envelope to attain cinematic excellence.

BRADLEY COOPER (3 nominations)

Bradley Cooper collected three nominations this year: Best Actor, Best Picture, and Best Original Screenplay for his roles in starring, producing, and co-writing Maestro.

At 49 years old, Cooper has now joined an elite group, becoming the fourth person in Academy history to direct himself to an acting nomination in more than one film. His directorial credits include Maestro and A Star is Born (2018).

The other three actor-directors who share this distinction are Laurence Olivier for Henry V (1944), Hamlet (1948), and Richard III (1955), Warren Beatty for Heaven Can Wait (1978) and Reds (1981), and Clint Eastwood for Unforgiven (1992) and Million Dollar Baby (2004).

CHRISTOPHER NOLAN (3 nominations)

Oppenheimer filmmaker Christopher Nolan got nominations for Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Director, and Best Picture for his roles in writing, directing, and producing the biopic, bringing his tally to three.

EMMA STONE (2 nominations)

Emma Stone received a Best Actress nomination for her role in Poor Things, and she also qualified as one of the nominated producers under the film’s Best Picture nod.

At 35 years old and a previous Oscar winner, Stone joins Frances McDormand as the second woman to be nominated for both acting and Best Picture for the same film. McDormand achieved this feat for Nomadland, which won both categories in 2021.

YORGOS LANTHIMOS (2 nominations)

Poor Things director Yorgos Lanthimos is nominated for Best Director and under its Best Picture nomination.

MARTIN SCORSESE (2 nominations)

Martin Scorsese secured two nominations for Killers of the Flower Moon – one for Best Director and another for Best Picture, recognizing his roles as both director and producer of the film.

CORD JEFFERSON (2 nominations)

American Fiction’s Cord Jefferson is nominated for Best Picture and Best Adapted Screenplay.

JUSTINE TRIET (2 nominations)

Justine Triet, the French filmmaker behind Anatomy of a Fall, earned nominations for Best Original Screenplay and Best Director for her work on the film starring Sandra Hüller.

Triet’s nomination for Best Director marks the ninth time a woman received recognition in the category.

JONATHAN GLAZER (2 nominations)

Jonathan Glazer received Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay nominations for The Zone of Interest.

TOM OZANICH and DEAN ZUPANCIC (2 nominations)
