L-R: Erika Bergara, Chief of Strategic Partnerships of HARIBON® FOUNDATION for the Conservation of Natural Resources, Inc. and Bremel Peter Guiao, BDO First Vice President & Consumer Banking Group Auto Loan Head.

BDO Unibank, Inc. and The HARIBON® Foundation for the Conservation of Natural Resources, Inc. have officially formed a partnership to reinforce community-driven sustainability initiatives through BDO’s Adopt-A-Tree Program during the ceremonial signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA).

With the Adopt-A-Tree Program, BDO will be donating one (1) native tree seedling to HARIBON® Foundation’s Forest for Life Movement for every successful/booked BDO Auto Loan application until August 31, 2023. Each seedling donated to the Forests for Life Movement also provides training and additional income for HARIBON’s partner farmers and rural communities who help maintain the reforestation sites. Applications may be coursed through any BDO branch or online via the BDO website at bdo.com.ph/autoloan. Clients who qualify for the Adopt-A-Tree Program may voluntarily join the tree planting activities at the protected tree planting site to be scheduled accordingly.

“Given the increasing environmental challenges that the world is currently facing, it’s a crucial time to take action and get more involved in conservation and sustainability efforts no matter how small or big it is,” says Bremel Peter R. Guiao, BDO First Vice President and Consumer Banking Group Auto Loan Head.

He adds, “With our ongoing sustainability efforts for BDO Auto Loan, we aim to start a ripple effect that positively impacts our Philippine rainforests and boosts the adoption of eco-friendly vehicles in the country.”

Haribon believes that sustainability is driven by people. Anna A. Varona, HARIBON® Foundation’s Chief Operating Officer says, “HARIBON is a partnership organization, and to succeed in achieving sustainability on a global scale, partnerships between the business sector and environmental advocacy groups are necessary. We can achieve this through sharing knowledge, funding opportunities, and an exchange of solutions.”

Apart from the Adopt-A-Tree Program, BDO Auto Loan will also offer financing for Hybrid and Electric vehicles at lower interest rates as compared to gas-powered vehicles. Clients can own a hybrid or electric vehicle for as low as P20,577 monthly amortization for a P1M loan amount at 60-month loan term.
