Banwa Private Island is thrilled to announce the appointment of Janet Oquendo as Island Manager. It will be a warm tropical welcome home for Janet, who was integral to the pre-opening phase as head of operations on the island. She now returns to Palawan from Mexico, where she was Hotel Manager of the luxury-eco resort, Cuixmala for two years.
With over 25 years of international hotel management experience, Janet is a seasoned hotelier who has worked extensively in Aman luxury resorts, hotels and private residences across continents, in pre-opening and operational roles.
Commenting on her new role heading day-to-day operations of Banwa Private Island, Janet says: “It is a privilege to get my feet back on the pristine sands of the island, where truly exclusive experiences are created and where sustainability is at the heart of luxury and intuitive service. This is very much aligned with me personally as well as professionally and I am so happy to be back.
Peter Nilsson of Banwa Private Island says: “We are pleased to welcome Janet home to this exciting role as Island Manager. Previously, she was instrumental in carving out the Aquos Foundation’s conservation and sustainability values. These values remain at the heart of everything we do. Her in-depth understanding of our ethos, alongside her skills in exceptional guest experiences, make Janet a unique fit for Banwa Private Island.”
