Amidst the approaching holidays, Forest Lake holds free grief webinar to support family and friends who are grieving

For many Filipinos, the holiday season is something to look forward to. However, this might not be the case for everyone. To some, the holidays can bring about negative feelings of loneliness, anxiety, and stress.

Forest Lake, the largest total death care provider in the Philippines, will be having its third webinar this 2022, Creating Better Days session on November 26, Saturday, at 10 AM. Titled “Busting the Myths of Grief: How to support someone grieving,” the third session aims to create a more compassionate society by providing helpful methods of comforting someone in grief.

The session will be led by Charity Marohombsar, a renowned end-of-life doula and internationally certified grief counselor. Joining her are theta healer and author Lissa Romer De Guia, actress Boots Anson-Roa, and Attorney King Rodrigo. Christine Babao will be the host and moderator of the webinar.

“Oftentimes, we have our own ways of comforting those who are mourning or longing for a lost loved one. However, not everything we do is actually the right way to comfort those who are grieving. This is what we intend to correct during the session, especially now that the holidays are approaching and people are more prone to feelings of loss and sadness,” says Marohombsar.

How Creating Better Days started

First launched in 2018 as an on-ground grief support program, Creating Better Days was originally a workshop course by Forest Lake facilitated by grief coach Cathy Babao for bereaved clients in Forest Lake Binan, Laguna. When the pandemic struck in 2020, Forest Lake offered free grief webinar sessions to the public to help more Filipinos across the country through the Creating Better Days Webinar Series.

“We want to ensure that the service that we provide to Filipinos with the total death care experience goes beyond a coffin and a memorial lot. Through Creating Better Days, we are able to support Filipinos emotionally during their times of grief,” says Alby Xerez-Burgos, Forest Lake Managing Director for Operations, Chapel Services, Sales, and Marketing.

Free grief webinar accessible for all Filipinos

The third and final session of Creating Better Days for this year is freely accessible to the public and is happening on Saturday, November 26 at 10:30AM.
