The 10-year tech and innovation industry leader HUAWEI Mate Series continues its success with the launch of the HUAWEI Mate 50 Pro

The Mate Series has been the crown jewel of Huawei as it remains relentless in its efforts to bring cutting-edge technology to smartphones. On November 18, it is set to launch the new HUAWEI Mate 50 Pro — its latest high-end model that boasts of innovative imaging technology, futuristic design, and powerful performance.

Through the years, the HUAWEI Mate Series smartphones have invariably distinguished themselves from other flagship models, with each generation incorporating the latest and greatest Huawei innovations, from vast displays and powerful batteries to excellent exteriors, high performance and Kirin chips.

The evolution of Mate over the past decade is truly a story of smartphone innovation. Mate products are consistently designed with an uncompromising attention to detail and represent Huawei’s commitment to serving the evolving needs of its users.

A rich Mate history

Back in 2013, the first HUAWEI Mate Series phone debuted with a compact body, and the largest display yet seen on a smartphone. At that time, it came with the world’s first 6.1-inch large screen and 4100mAh big battery.

The next year, it was followed by the HUAWEI Mate 2 which came equipped with a formidable Kirin processor, then rated as one of the world’s best mainstream chips. Later that same year, the trendy HUAWEI Mate 7 provided brand-new integrated fingerprint unlock technology, laying a solid foundation for the high-end positioning of the Mate Series. The HUAWEI Mate 7 held the title of being the world’s first smartphone with touch fingerprint sensor, a technological advancement testament to Huawei’s innovative spirit in creating groundbreaking user experience.

In 2015, the HUAWEI Mate 8 Series was released, introducing the first-ever 16-nm chip on a commercially available phone, as well as an aerospace-grade aluminum alloy metallic body, and 1.7-mm borderless design, for powerful performance with immersive visuals.

The HUAWEI Mate 9 Series launched a Porsche Design edition for the first time, which came with a 4000 mAh battery and 22.5 W fast charging, pushing the boundaries of performance and battery life. Another first in battery innovation.

The next Mate series models continued to incorporate innovative Huawei technologies that focused on enhancing design and performance. The HUAWEI Mate 10 introduced the world’s first smartphone with AI Camera and a TÜV Rheinland safety certification for SuperCharge. It came with an exclusive easy projection and EMUI Desktop mode as well as a fun way of taking screenshots via knuckle screenshots (Knock on the screen twice in quick succession with one knuckle to take a screenshot).

The succeeding Mate Series model, the HUAWEI Mate RS, rocked the smartphone industry with its dual fingerprint scanner for enhanced convenience, allowing users to wake and unlock the device simply and instantly, thanks to an in-screen fingerprint sensor.

Huawei refused to stop challenging their technologies for the Mate Series. When Huawei developed the HUAWEI Mate 20 and Mate 30 Series, both devices incorporated cutting-edge Huawei technologies that won the trust of consumers, thanks to the performance of Huawei-developed chips, comprehensive photography features, robust battery life, and outstanding communications network. The HUAWEI Mate 20 Series is the industry’s first smartphone with 2.5cm Super Macro Mode. It also boasts of the world’s first 15W wireless fast charging and first wireless reverse charging for mobile phones. The innovation didn’t stop there — the series also introduced HUAWEI SuperCool, the world’s first liquid multi-dimensional cooling system with Vapor Chamber (VC) and Graphene Film used in smartphones. User efficiency was hugely enhanced with the Huawei Share OneHop which enables you to instantly send documents, photos, videos and more from device to the laptop.

The HUAWEI Mate 30 Series on the other hand took things to another level when it introduced the ultra slow-motion video which allowed users to shoot slow motion videos at 7,680 frames-per-second (fps). It also came with the HUAWEI SuperSensing Cine Camera with a 1/1.54-inch sensor for low light shooting. As the first smartphone with TÜV Rheinland safety certification of the wireless SuperCharge, the HUAWEI Mate 30 Series introduced the world’s fastest wireless charging and reverse charging of mobile phones. The smartphone design supported the overall technological advancement with an innovative vegan leather.

In 2020, the HUAWEI Mate 40 Series brought new advances in terms of chip performance, photography, charging, and interactions, and helped usher in the 5G era by packing the 5-nm Kirin 9000 flagship chip. Huawei engineers also focused on system innovations for EMUI updates, which then allowed Huawei Smartphones to be used for 36 months without any hiccups in performance. Smartphones like the HUAWEI Mate 40 will see an output decline of just 2.5 percent in 36 months, for example.

In the past decade, the evolution of the Mate Series has consistently been transformative for the smartphone scene, with each launch bringing generational leaps in terms of cutting-edge innovation and technology.

Ushering a new Mate

This year, to mark the tenth anniversary of the launch of its first Mate smartphone, the HUAWEI Mate 50 Pro introduces a wave of new technologies, including the first-ever 10-size adjustable physical aperture, a feature that will definitely excite phone photography enthusiasts around.

The HUAWEI Mate 50 Pro is likewise expected to deliver a smooth performance. This is enabled by the Huawei R&D teams’ endless pursuit to create a seamless experience for users as they continuously optimize technology by evolving EMUI. They also came up with the idea of developing an innovative battery feature that enables the HUAWEI Mate 50 Pro to have extended use before powering down even though the battery levels are exhausted. It also comes with improved storage capacity technologies that will eliminate worries about lack of storage space.

Huawei’s track record shows how it has remained true to its commitment in pursuing cutting-edge technology and providing its users with the transformative innovations they need.
