Olympic gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz has noticed that bank transactions in the provinces are not easy because of the distance of the houses from the town where the banks are located. Beneficiaries or relatives of overseas Filipinos, for example, still need to travel a few hours just to go to the nearest ATM and withdraw remittances.
Reason why Hidilyn was so surprised when she saw Cash Agad point-of-sale (POS) terminals stationed at various micro and small business establishments in her hometown in Zamboanga.
“Friendly-neighborhood ATM”
Launched by BDO Unibank in 2014, Cash Agad is a service where ATM cardholders can withdraw cash using Cash Agad POS terminals at the nearest partner stores in their area.
“May Cash Agad sila, kaya nasabi ko noon meron palang ganyan? Kasi nga, galing ako sa iba’t-ibang lugar at nakita ko na walang ATM sa mga lugar na yun. With Cash Agad, a cardholder can withdraw up to P10,000. The maximum withdrawal amount per day depends on the limit of the issuing bank.
