GMovies and UPSTREAM mark first anniversary with an original and acclaimed international film

It has been a year since the leading ticketing platform and the transactional video on demand (TVOD) service, inked a deal to usher Filipinos into a new world of cinema recreating the entertainment experience even at home.

To celebrate the terrific run, GMovies and UPSTREAM.PH present an originally produced film by veteran and award-winning director Erik Matti, and a 2021 Cannes Film Festival entry, along with other binge-worthy Filipino classics, Korean movies, Hollywood features, and series to their users!

Here’s the list of shows you can stream with us to celebrate this special milestone:

 

UPSTREAM Original 

Rabid, streaming November 12. Rabid is an anthology film that probes into our everyday reality of anxiety, uncertainty, and paranoia. It features distinct but interwoven stories that revolve around the different ways this world can drive human beings to the brink of madness. Starring Vance Larena, Ricci Rivero, Donna Cariaga, Kent Gonzales, Ayeesha Cervantes, Pam Gonzales, Ameera Johara, Jay Glorioso, Ynigo Delen, Jake Macapagal, Cheska Diaz, Brace Arquiza, Ube Lola and directed by Erik Matti.

 

Acclaimed International Films 

Benedetta, streaming November 17. In the late 17th century, with plague ravaging the land, Benedetta Carlini joined the convent in Pescia, Tuscany as a novice nun. Capable from an early age of performing miracles, her impact on life in the community is immediate and momentous. But she also suffers from disturbing religious and erotic visions. She is assisted by a companion, and the relationship between the two women develops into a romantic love affair. Starring Virginie Efira, Charlotte Rampling, Daphne Patakia, Lambert Wilson, Olivier Rabourdin.

 

Filipino Classics 

Gagamboy, streaming now. An accident at a pharmaceutical lab turns the mild-mannered ice cream vendor Junie into Gagamboy, a do-good crusader, defender of the poor and oppressed, protector of children, and number one enemy of Ipisman! Starring Vhong Navarro, Aubrey Miles and Jay Manalo. 

Pa-siyam, streaming now. Five siblings return to the province to bury their mother who died under mysterious circumstances. While the family holds the traditional pa-siyam for the dead, a series of horrifying events take place, leading to the unlocking of dark family secrets. Starring Roderick Paulate, Cherry Pie Picache, Maricar de Mesa, Yul Servo and Ana Capri. 

Mano Po 6 and 7, streaming now. A Mother’s Love and Tsinoy stories focus on relationships around Chinese families. Directed by Joel Lamangan and Ian Loreños, respectively. Sharon Cuneta, Richard Yap, and Jean Garcia top-billed these installments.

 

Korean Films 

Okay! Madam, streaming until November 21. Okay! Madam is about a couple, a restaurant manager and a computer repair expert, who must save their family from a hijacking incident during their first family vacation. Starring Woon Jong Jeon, Bae Jeong-nam, Uhm Junghwa.

Beauty Water, streaming until January 16, 2022. Ye-ji comes across mysterious water that enables her to lose weight and reshape her appearance. She finds her life is more in danger the more she desires to be beautiful. Starring Moon Nam-Sook.

 

Hollywood Features

 Stillwater, streaming now. The thrilling drama follows American oil-rig worker Bill Baker as he travels to France to help his estranged daughter Allison after being imprisoned for a murder that she claims she did not commit. Navigating an unfamiliar country and its complex legal system, Bill takes it upon himself to prove his daughter’s Innocence. Starring Matt Damon, Abigail Breslin, Camille Cottin, Deanna Dunagan. 

Limbo, streaming now. Limbo is a wry and poignant observation of the refugee experience, set on a fictional remote Scottish island where a group of new arrivals awaits the results of their asylum claims. It centers on Omar, a young Syrian musician who is burdened by his grandfather’s oud, which he has carried from his Homeland.  Starring Amir El-Masry, Vikash Bhai, Ola Orebiyi, Kwabena Ansah, Sidse Babett Knudsen, Kais Nashif. 

The Anti-Vax Conspiracy, streaming November 26. Upstream PH’s partnership with British worldwide digital production All3Media International brings you a documentary about people behind the international anti-Covid-vaccine movement and why they are doing it. This journey inside the astonishing world of the anti-vaxxers is a must-watch.

 

TV and Web Series

Van der Valk, streaming November 19. Following a street-smart and unapologetic Dutch detective as he navigates the lively and enigmatic city of Amsterdam, solving mysterious crimes using astute human observation and inspired detection. Starring Marc Warren, Maimie McCoy, Luke Allen-Gale.

Quaranthings Season 2 (Boys’ Love), streaming November 26. A year and a few months into their first real relationship. No longer living in their little bubble, can Judah and Rocky still make things work? Starring Royce Cabrera, Kyo Quijano.
