SM-BDO Brings Biggest Christmas Celebration for Overseas Filipinos and Families

In a glitzy and prizes-filled event dubbed as “Pamaskong Handog”, the SM-BDO collaboration for the benefit of overseas Filipinos and their beneficiaries was highlighted yesterday at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall in Pasay City.

Through the solid backing of the country’s largest shopping center operator — SM Supermalls-BDO Unibank is able to reach out to millions of overseas Filipinos and enable the sending of money to their respective beneficiaries in the Philippines in a safe and secure manner. This is made possible because of SM’s expansive mall network all over the country. Each 8M Supermall has BDO branches that are ready to serve beneficiaries from mall opening hours up to 7PM, even on weekends and select holidays. Beneficiaries can go to said 800 branches inside SM mails to open a Kabayan savings account, or withdraw their remittances using any ATM.
Now on its 7th year, the annual musical variety show-type Christmas event is jointly organized by the two corporate giants and open exclusively to BDO Kabayan Savings account holders and SM Global Pinoy card members.

The event featured actors Piolo Pascual and Sam Milby; singer Moira Dela Torre; love team Inigo Pascual and Maris Racal and; “Tawag ng Tanghalan” finalists Anton Antenorcruz, Jennie Gabriel and the TNT Boys.

Like a musical variety show, Pamaskong Handog was hosted by comedians Donita Nose, MC, and Lassie.
“Though the synergistic efforts of SM Supermalls and BDO, as well as the active participation of our other partners in this endeavor, we want our balikbayan overseas Filipinos and their families to feel once again how we Filipinos celebrate Christmas even for this day. Let them forget about homesickness and get their mind off work for a moment. This time, let’s enjoy the Christmas feeling together through Pamaskong Handog,” says BDO senior vice president and Remittance Head Genie T. Gloria.
Aside from SM Supermalls, other corporate partners in the yearly staging of Pamaskong Handog are SM Global Pinoy, and SM affiliates, The SM Store and SM Appliance. Major sponsors include remittance partners WorldRemit, Moneygram, and Xoom; as well as Jollibee and Max‘s Restaurant,
Through its partnership with BBC Remit, global money transfer companies WorldRemit, Moneygram, and Xoom play a crucial role in connecting overseas Filipinos with their loved ones in the Philippines by facilitating money transfer services through their respective online and physical remittance channels.
To be able to watch and join the fun at the Pamaskong Handog event, overseas Filipinos and beneficiaries were required to present their BDO Kabayan Savings ATM card or passbook or SM Global Pinoy card. They were also entitled to bring one companion to the event.
