The new and refreshed Latitude portfolio is developed with the increasingly mobile workforce in mind, align with insights from various research sponsored by Dell. The latest global research shared the impact of emerging technologies that see 48% global business leaders surveyed, including leaders in Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ), believe they’ll have more job satisfaction in the future by offloading tasks to machines. Thus, businesses and workforce today are increasingly critical on devices they need to support their work today and to help adapt with the future.

“We are entering the future of work where the way people work and run their businesses constantly change as technology continue to evolve. There is significant expectation riding on the positive impact emerging technology can bring,” comments Mitch Juliano, Field Marketing Manager, Client Solutions Group, Dell EMC Philippines. “To do that our customers want devices that can help them continue to be productive today and help them persevere for the future with performance, mobility and security mentioned as the top features they need.”

Addressing a gap in the marketplace for thinner, lighter and more powerful mobile devices that address the myriad ways people work, Dell unveiled the refreshed Latitude portfolio.

Sustainable innovation

First announced at CES 2018, Dell also reveal an industry-first pilot to recycle gold from used electronics in new computer motherboards, which will ship in the award-winning Latitude 5285 2-in-1s starting spring this year. The pilot follows a successful feasibility study on server motherboards. The closed-loop gold process could support the creation of millions of new motherboards in the next year. This initiative expands Dell’s closed loop program from plastics to precious metals.

“Materials innovation – where and how we source things like plastic, carbon fiber and now gold for our products – is increasingly important for us,” said Latinazo. “When you think about the fact that there is up to 80x more gold in a ton of motherboards than a ton of ore from the earth, you start to realize the enormous opportunity we have to put valuable materials to work. It takes constantly thinking outside of the box and pushing the boundaries of innovation to solve some of the world’s most pressing environmental challenges.”

Dell has spent more than a decade working with sustainable materials in products and packaging. Since 2012, Dell has recycled more than 50 million pounds of post-consumer recycled materials into new products. As part of Dell’s Legacy of Good Program, the company has pledged to recycle 100 million pounds of recycled content into its product portfolio by 2020.
