Salcedo Auctions, a renowned auction house, continues to break new ground with the launch of its subsidiary brand Gavel & Block, which will introduce the auction platform to a contemporary audience through current and accessible quarterly themed sales dedicated to art, design, and the world of valuable collectibles.
For its debut, Gavel & Block by Salcedo Auctions will host its first sale entitled ‘Editions’ in collaboration with culinary group The Gourmand Market and the burgeoning creative event hub, Green Sun, in the Pasong Tamo Extension district.
This innovative ‘out of the box’ immersive event, which springs from a shared interest in enriching the local cultural scene through a one-of-a-kind weekend that enlivens gustatory and aesthetic sensibilities, will bring together the art, design, and culinary communities under one roof.
“As industry pioneers, we have always considered ourselves as innovators and catalysts – building and engaging new audiences – and Gavel & Block is the perfect manifestation of this,” say Richie and Karen Lerma of Salcedo Auctions.
“The Gourmand Market thrives on its creed, ‘Eat Well, Live Well,’ and is therefore, more than discovering purveyors and delectable dishes. Green Sun’s Kevin Lim Tan notes that situating the event in a modern, design-focused space such as The Axon fits into their company’s vision for the space. He notes, “Green Sun was built to be the launch pad for creativity – and it is our mission to promote the arts and enrich culture.”
The Gourmand Market, Manila’s leading premium food market, will be offering a curated spread of fine food products, exciting local flavors and inventive plates to indulge even the most discriminating palates.
‘Editions,’ the debut auction of Gavel & Block by Salcedo Auctions is dedicated to the fine art of multiple originals and will offer original fine prints, ceramics, and sculptures by local and international masters such as Mauro Malang Santos, Jose Joya, BenCab, Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dali, and Victor Vasarely.
This nouvelle collaboration will be held at The Axon, Green Sun from Friday, 28 to Sunday, 30 July, with the auction to be held on Saturday, 29 July at 2pm. In keeping with Gavel & Block’s aim to mature the art market through education, a printmaking demonstration underscoring the intricacies of this underrated medium will also be held.
A weeklong preview of ‘Editions’ will also be held at the Salcedo Auctions main sale room at Three Salcedo Place, 121 Tordesillas St., Salcedo Village, Makati City, from Thursday, 20 July to Wednesday, 26 July.
