“Ang Babaeng Allergic sa WiFi” is Cignal Entertainment’s first venture into full length feature film production and is one of the eight feature films chosen by the Film Development Council of the Philippines for the Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino 2018 happening in August 15, in celebration of Buwan ng Wika.
In partnership with THE IDEAFIRST COMPANY and OCTOBERTRAIN FILMS, this Cignal Entertainment’s rom-com film examines love in the digital age. It’s written and directed by Jun Robles Lana (and with Perci Intalan), starring promising young actors Sue Ramirez, Jameson Blake and Markus Paterson.
Norma is an ordinary teenage girl, and like most girls her life (and love life) revolves around technology. One day she is diagnosed with Electromagnetic Hyper-Sensitivity — an unusual illness that makes her literally allergic to Wi-Fi, and other digital tools her she and her friends find indispensable.
Because of her illness, Norma had to live with her grandmother in a far-flung place where there is no signal and where she is forced to live a much simpler life, making it impossible for her and Leo to communicate regularly.
Despite this, Leo’s brother, Aries, goes out of his way to always visit Norma to fill in for his brother.
This big change in her life eventually pushes her to reevaluate her relationships and the boy she believes is her one true love.
The movie also stars Yayo Aguila, Candy Pangilinan and Boots Anson Roa, among others.
Ang Babaeng Allergic sa WiFi is one of the most awaited entries in the festival after its trailer went viral over the Internet. The film’s unique story, lesson about love, take on millennials’ digital life, genuine acting of the actors (especially Angeli Nicole Sanoy’s funny moments) and plot twist make it worthwatching.
